GV Trail Property Indicators

Demarcation point at which City of Columbia's trail ends and Gedern Village trail begins.  This is just before one approaches the wooden bridge (to the left in photo) to the Gedern Drive cul de sac.

This sign, put up by a GV HOA member, was removed repeatedly.  We believe that a non-HOA member removed this sign on at least one occasion.  An unfamiliar woman was seen parking her car at the Gedern cul de sac, running to the trail and pulling the sign down one afternoon in January.  She ran like a bat out of hell and sped from our neighborhood.

We have primarily relied upon private property notices written in chalk on the blacktop of our trail. (Due to a lack of finalization in some legal matters related to trail ownership, the HOA has not determined to install permanent signage as of yet.  It is our property rightly, according to legal documents creating the neighborhood and HOA.  The City cannot obtain it without GV HOA approval.)  We have noticed attempts to scuff out the notice on many occasions.  On a few occasions the text was explicitly marked over in more chalk with a welcoming note to non-HOA members.  The weather of course eliminates the chalk notification as well.

Mostly, we have seen our fellow Columbia residents explicitly ignore our written requests to respect our property and not trespass.  No embarrassment.  The City is of course not discouraging them in this at all.  I have photos of trespassers as well as of those who treat our streets like a parking lot for a public trail head.  I may do a post of those soon.
